Clinical Pre-Assessment & Tailored Treatment Recommendations
When you make that first call—or anytime during your information-gathering process—staff can provide a complimentary assessment for your teen. Insights can then help us determine whether treatment is a viable option, and if so, which level of care might be the best place to start.
This initial assessment includes:
- Physical and psychological health history
- Your teen’s behavioral concerns and history of substance use
- Family history
- Mental health challenges
- Current medications
- Any history of treatment
Once the pre-assessment is complete, it is sent to our medical and clinical teams to review and craft a customized treatment plan prior to admission.

Guardian Recovery Adolescent can help your teen take control of their lives, putting them on a path to a brighter future filled with possibility.
Insurance Verification & Covering the Cost of Treatment
Thanks to the Affordable Care Act, mental health and substance use treatment are typically covered partially or in full by insurance. Additionally, Guardian Recovery accepts a host of insurance plans, and we offer self-pay options for those who don’t choose to use insurance. During your initial call, staff can also verify your insurance benefits and provide a detailed benefits summary explaining what your plan covers and how much you’ll likely pay out of pocket for treatment.
To verify your insurance benefits, we’ll need the following information:
- Your child’s full name and date of birth
- Name of insurance provider
- Member ID or policy number
- Type of plan
Once our treatment advisors verify your benefits with your insurance carrier, they’ll share all of their insights with you regarding what’s fully covered and partially covered, your out-of-pocket costs (e.g., deductibles, co-pays, etc.), and more.
Some of the insurance companies we work with include:

FAQs
Many plans cover adolescent addiction rehab and mental health services, but it depends upon your policy. Guardian Recovery accepts most major insurance plans and will contact your insurance provider for you to learn about your benefits and coverage. Once we have the information, we will explain it to you in easy-to-understand language.
We understand that getting your child help as soon as possible is important. We also know that some situations may become urgent if a teen is at risk of harming themselves or others. At Guardian Recovery, your child can be admitted into treatment as soon as your insurance information is verified and transportation is arranged. While this is usually not the same day as the assessment, it rarely takes more than a day or two to begin treatment.
Every teen’s recovery journey is different, and we pride ourselves on developing programs that meet each child’s unique needs. Once your teen is admitted, we’ll conduct an in-depth evaluation to help us suggest the most appropriate duration of care, the best medical interventions, and the next steps in treatment.
While we design treatment programs based on each adolescent’s rehab needs, most care plans include individual, group, and family therapy. Your child may also participate in recreational therapies and those designed to develop life skills, build self-confidence, and prevent relapse.
When enrolled in medical detox, inpatient/residential care, and our partial hospitalization program (PHP) with housing option, teens cannot continue with standard schooling because they are engaged in treatment full time. However, we coordinate with your school district to offer on-site instruction as needed to ensure they maintain or regain their academic standing.
Guardian Recovery provides a dedicated classroom where your child will participate in our academic programs for two hours daily from Monday through Friday. An educator is present during class to monitor internet access and answer any questions that arise during sessions. Your child can usually transfer the credits back to their school.
If your child is staying at one of our facilities, previously prescribed medications should be brought on site in the original bottle with prescription information. Our medical staff will hold these medications and administer them as needed. Additionally, our physicians and psychiatrists may prescribe additional medicines as needed and in consultation with you.
While your child is in detox, residential, or PHP with housing care, they will interact solely with our staff and other teen residents. Once they transition into a lower level of care and no longer live in residence, they can interact with peers outside the program.
It is important to remember that some of the peers your teen is accustomed to may use substances or pressure your child to do so. Steps should be taken to remove such people from your teen’s social circle to reduce the risk of relapse.
The area’s top physicians, nurses, and addiction therapists manage your teen’s care during medical detox. We ensure your teen is safe and do everything possible to make your child comfortable during medical detox, including using FDA-approved medications to ease their symptoms.
We have the utmost respect for your privacy and adhere to all HIPAA regulations.
