Individual Therapy
Individual therapy (aka psychotherapy or counseling) is a process where clients work one-on-one with a qualified mental health professional in a safe, caring, and confidential environment. This personalized approach focuses on the client’s immediate or near-future concerns. It can involve working through feelings, beliefs, behaviors, and personal issues such as work-related stress, grief, or relationship concerns.
Why Choose Individual Therapy?
Mental health is a critical component of overall well-being. Individual therapy offers a unique opportunity for personal growth and problem-solving. Every individual is unique, and so are their mental health needs. Our therapists tailor their approach to suit your specific situation, ensuring a treatment that resonates with you on a personal level.
Therapy provides a confidential and nonjudgmental space to explore your feelings, beliefs, and behaviors without fear of criticism. Tackling issues ranging from anxiety and depression to stress and life transitions, individual therapy helps clients develop coping strategies and skills to foster resilience and manage life’s challenges more effectively.
Our Treatment Methods
At Bishop Health, our therapists employ various treatment methods, each of which is proven to support mental health differently.
Some of our primary methods include:
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): This widely used technique helps identify and change negative thought patterns, leading to more positive behaviors and feelings.
- Psychodynamic Therapy: This approach focuses on understanding how past experiences and the unconscious mind influence current behaviors. It’s particularly effective for long-standing emotional issues.
- Humanistic Therapy: Centered around self-exploration, this method encourages self-awareness and understanding as the path to personal growth and fulfillment.
- Solution-Focused Therapy: Ideal for specific problems, this approach aims to find practical solutions in a short time frame.
- Mindfulness-Based Therapies: These involve meditation and mindfulness practices to help you stay grounded and present in the moment.
Embarking on a journey of personal growth through individual therapy can be transformative. At Bishop Health, we are committed to providing compassionate, effective care tailored to your unique needs. Contact us today to begin your path toward comprehensive healing.Â

TMS TherapyÂ
Bishop Health in Delray Beach, FL, offers Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) therapy as an advanced treatment option for depression and some other mental health conditions. This FDA-approved, medication-free, and noninvasive method uses targeted magnetic fields to stimulate specific brain areas involved in mood regulation, which are often underactive in those with depression or anxiety. TMS has shown long-lasting effectiveness with minimal side effects.Â
TMS is an ideal alternative for those who haven’t found success with traditional therapy or medication.Â
How Does TMS Work?
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) works by using magnetic fields to stimulate nerve cells in the brain. When rapidly turned on and off, these magnetic fields induce small electric currents in targeted areas of the brain that are involved in mood regulation.
The prefrontal cortex is a common target in depression treatment. The induced electric currents stimulate nerve cells, which can help reset the activity of neurons that have become dysregulated in conditions like depression.
Stimulation can increase the release of neurotransmitters like serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine, which play a role in mood regulation. TMS is thought to enhance neuroplasticity—the brain’s ability to form new connections and pathways, which can lead to improved mood and cognitive function. The therapeutic method is most commonly used for treating major depressive disorder, especially when clients have not responded to antidepressant medications.
TMS does not require surgery or implantation of electrodes and is generally well-tolerated. The most common side effects are scalp discomfort at the treatment site and headache. Serious side effects are extremely rare.
TMS represents a significant advancement in the noninvasive treatment of depression and other neurological disorders. Its ability to modulate brain activity with minimal side effects makes it an appealing option for those who haven’t found relief with traditional treatments. However, like any medical treatment, clients must discuss the risks, benefits, and alternatives with a healthcare provider.

Frequently Asked Questions
Many people struggle with this question, often waiting until they’re in crisis before seeking help. The truth is, if mental health challenges are impacting your daily life—whether that’s affecting your sleep, relationships, work performance, or overall well-being—it’s worth exploring professional care. You don’t need to be at your breaking point to benefit from treatment. Our initial consultation can help you understand if treatment would be beneficial, and many clients tell us they wish they’d reached out sooner. Remember, seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness.
Unlike traditional mental health settings where providers work independently, our coordinated care model ensures all your providers—therapists, psychiatrists, and other specialists—work together as a unified team. They talk regularly to discuss your progress, adjust treatment plans, and ensure all aspects of your care are working in harmony. This approach eliminates the common frustration of having to coordinate between different providers or repeat your story multiple times. Many clients tell us this integrated approach helps them feel truly supported and understood for the first time in their treatment journey.
We accept most major insurance plans. Our insurance specialists will verify your benefits before treatment begins and explain exactly what is covered. For those with out-of-pocket expenses or without insurance coverage, we offer flexible alternative payment options. We believe cost shouldn’t be a barrier to receiving quality mental health care and will work with you to find a solution that makes treatment accessible.
An IOP is a structured mental health care program that provides more support than typical outpatient therapy but less intensity than inpatient or residential treatment. It typically includes group therapy, individual counseling, and other therapeutic activities while allowing clients to live at home and maintain daily responsibilities.
Research consistently shows that virtual treatment can be as effective as in-person care for many individuals. Our virtual program maintains the same evidence-based approaches and quality standards as our in-person services. Some clients actually prefer virtual treatment, finding it easier to engage from the safety and comfort of their own space. We carefully assess each client’s situation to determine if virtual treatment is appropriate and make adjustments as needed.
