Our Unique Approach
At New Pathway Counseling, we take pride in our unique SOARFIT program, a holistic approach to addiction treatment designed for adults striving for sobriety, health, and fitness. Our program focuses on healing the mind, body, and spirit in a nurturing environment, emphasizing the importance of physical fitness and emotional and spiritual well-being as foundational elements for sustained recovery.
The SOARFIT model integrates a continuum of care from a partial hospitalization program (PHP) and intensive outpatient program (IOP) to less intensitve outpatient programs and individual, family, and group therapies.
Our approach is deeply rooted in the belief that recovery is a journey that encompasses more than just abstinence; it’s about building a fulfilling and healthy lifestyle. Through individualized program plans, we offer a blend of therapies, including group sessions for mutual support, spiritual guidance to deepen self-awareness, and family support to address addiction as a comprehensive family issue. This integrated method ensures that each participant develops the resilience and skills needed to navigate the challenges of recovery, transforming obstacles into stepping stones toward a brighter, sober future.

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
Our PHP offes a structured, intensive treatment option designed for individuals seeking comprehensive support in their recovery journey while maintaining some level of autonomy and connection to their daily lives. This level of intensity and support bridges the gap between residential treatment and outpatient services.
The PHP is tailored for individuals who have completed detoxification and possibly residential treatment but still require a structured therapeutic environment to continue their recovery. The program operates multiple days a week, with participants engaging in multiple hours of treatment activities and therapy each day. However, clients reside at home or in a sober living environment during care.
Therapeutic Modalities and Treatment Focus
Individual Therapy: Each participant is assigned a primary therapist with whom they meet regularly for personalized therapy sessions. These sessions delve into the underlying causes of addiction, behavioral patterns, and coping strategies for dealing with triggers and stress.
Group Therapy: A cornerstone of the PHP, group therapy sessions facilitate peer support, shared experiences, and the development of interpersonal skills. Topics include relapse prevention, emotional regulation, life skills, and the principles of the 12 Steps.
Family Therapy: Recognizing the role of family dynamics in recovery, the program includes family therapy sessions aimed at healing relationships, improving communication, and establishing a supportive home environment.
Medical and Psychiatric Support
PHP participants also have access to medical care and psychiatric support to address any co-occurring mental health disorders or medical needs. This comprehensive approach ensures that all aspects of the individual’s health are addressed in conjunction with their recovery.
Benefits of the PHP
Flexibility: The PHP allows individuals to engage in an intensive treatment program while still having the freedom to live at home or in a sober living environment.
Continuity of Care: It serves as a step-down from more intensive levels of care, providing a seamless transition in the recovery process.
Community Integration: Participants can start to reintegrate into their community, applying the skills and strategies they learn in real-world settings while still under the support and guidance of the treatment team.
The PHP offers a comprehensive, integrated approach to recovery, blending clinical and medical treatment with holistic and experiential therapies. It empowers individuals to continue their journey of recovery with the support, structure, and tools necessary for long-term success.
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
A step down from PHPs, IOPs provide a higher level of care than standard outpatient care, but they still offer a significant degree of flexibility. IOPs typically involve a structured schedule and require a greater time commitment that traditional outpatient care. However, IOPs include most of the same therapies and services as our PHP program, including SOARFIT, MAT, individual, group, and family therapy, and more.
Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)
MAT is a clinically proven adjunct to traditional therapies intended to help those struggling with substance misuse. Because addiction negatively affects brain chemistry and is associated with both tolerance and dependence, MAT was developed by scientists to help individuals break free from these conditions and allow them to focus on healing and recovery. MAT helps promote sobriety by integrating the use of medication with traditional therapies and mitigating withdrawal symptoms and cravings.
One of the primary uses of MAT is to address withdrawal symptoms that may arise during detox for alcohol, prescription opioid medications, and illicit opioids such as heroin and fentanyl.
Alcohol withdrawal effects can be severe and even fatal without close medical monitoring and interventions, resulting in complications such as heart problems and seizures. For this reason, individuals are urged to undergo medical detox under specialized clinical supervision.
The SOARFIT Model
At New Pathway Counseling, our SOARFIT behavioral health professionals work closely with adults and their families to heal clients’ minds, bodies, and spirits in a positive and rewarding environment. The SOARFIT program is a unique approach to recovery that promotes sobriety, health, and fitness. The goal is to help participants discover that achieving long-lasting sobriety is desirable and possible.
Promoting physical, emotional, and spiritual wellness is vital for relapse prevention. For example, regular workout routines help individuals alleviate stress, cope with cravings, and strengthen their immunity.
The SOARFIT Program Structure and Components
The SOARFIT program is based on a continuum of care model in which individuals are encouraged to engage in services at the degree of intensity they need to achieve and sustain sobriety. During the program, clients participate in our IOP and then transition to a less intensive level of care, such as outpatient and individual, family, and group therapy sessions. They are also encouraged to remain actively engaged in these services throughout their relapse prevention program.
Based on the findings of the individual’s initial assessment, the SOARFIT addiction treatment professional and the client develop a personalized plan containing some or all of the following services:
Weekly Individual Therapy Sessions
Our programs include a technique known as transcranial pulsed electromagnetic field therapy (PEMF), a form of treatment that uses electromagnetic fields to improve health and overall wellness. The FDA approved PEMF in 2011 to address severe, treatment-resistant depression. Research has shown that when PEMF therapy is used regularly, it mitigates the individual’s stress responses by acting on various components of the body, such as the endocrine and nervous systems, cells, and organs. PEMF can also effectively lower the body’s response to extended periods of stress.
Group Therapy Sessions
In group therapy sessions, clients process their experiences and challenges during recovery. Here, a trained facilitator helps participants work to reinforce healthy thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that promote long-lasting recovery. They also assist them in learning the effective coping mechanisms and techniques needed to confront the obstacles that can increase the risk of relapse.
Spiritual Guidance
Some individuals begin treatment without having a connection to a higher power. For this reason, our behavioral health specialists work with clients to help them understand the role of spirituality and the impact it can have on substance use and the recovery process. By accepting the possibility of a higher power, clients can gain a better understanding of who they are and their life’s purpose.
Aftercare Planning
No addiction recovery program is complete without extensive aftercare planning. The transition back to fully independent living can be challenging, and it is absolutely crucial that a solid plan is in place before inpatient treatment comes to an end. We make sure that every client is prepared with a clear-cut set of instructions and a lengthy list of recovery resources before he or she graduates from our program.
However, while clients are still in treatment, we begin instilling many skills that prepare our clients for success in long-term recovery. In group and individual therapy sessions, we work to instill life skills, healthy coping mechanisms, relapse prevention skills, and a thorough introduction to the 12-Step model of addiction recovery. Common 12-Step programs like Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous remain crucial components of nearly every aftercare plan.
