Pre-Assessment & Tailored Treatment Recommendations
When you make that first call—or anytime during your information-gathering process—staff can provide a complimentary assessment of your current health care needs. Insights can then help us determine whether treatment is a viable option, and if so, which level of care might be the best place to start.
This initial assessment includes:
- Physical and psychological health history
- Any behavioral concerns and history of substance use
- Family history
- Mental health challenges
- Current medications
- Any history of treatment
Once the pre-assessment is complete, it is sent to our clinical team to review and craft a customized treatment plan.

Insurance Verification & Covering the Costs of Treatment
Thanks to the Affordable Care Act, mental health treatment is typically covered partially or in full by insurance. Additionally, Guardian Recovery accepts a host of insurance plans, and we offer self-pay options for those who don’t choose to use insurance. During your initial call, staff can also verify your insurance benefits and provide a detailed benefits summary explaining what your plan covers and how much you’ll likely pay out of pocket for treatment.
To verify your insurance benefits, we’ll need the following information:
- Name of insurance provider
- Member ID or policy number
- Type of plan
Once our treatment advisors verify your benefits with your insurance carrier, they’ll share all of their insights with you regarding what’s fully covered and partially covered, your out-of-pocket costs (e.g., deductibles, co-pays, etc.), and more.
Self Pay Options
Keep in mind, cost need not be a barrier to treatment. Various payment options are available, and we’ll work with you to find the best way to move forward.

FAQs
Many plans cover mental health services, but it depends upon your policy. Guardian Recovery accepts most major insurance plans and will contact your insurance provider for you to learn about your benefits and coverage. Once we have the information, we will explain it to you in easy-to-understand language.
We have the utmost respect for your privacy and adhere to all HIPAA regulations.
Our pre-admission clinical assessment is performed by experienced, empathetic treatment advisors, many of whom have personally dealt with mental health disorders. They understand what it’s like to be the person on the other end of the phone, who is likely frightened and desperate for help.
During the phone call, a treatment advisor will ask questions and engage you in discussion to learn more about your needs and confirm that you will benefit from Guardian Recovery’s treatment program.
They will ask you questions about:
- History of mental health disorders and any accompanying substance misuse.
- Family history.
- Physical and psychological health history.
- Current medications.
- Treatment history.
Mental health treatment is not one-size-fits-all. We understand that you are an individual with a unique background and needs. We begin analyzing those needs during your pre-admission assessment and investigate them further once you enter our treatment program.
A team of clinical professionals will review what we learn from you and develop a multi-modality treatment program they believe will serve you best. They will review that program with you and ask for your input. Depending upon your needs and interests, that program may contain some or all of the following components:
- Individual and group counseling
- Medication management and psychiatry services
- Nutrition counseling
- Holistic treatment approaches
- Recreational therapy
- Intensive outpatient program (IOP)
- Innovative care such as Spravto or transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS)
- Virtual treatment options
